Reports indicate that the United States is balancing military preparedness with ongoing diplomatic efforts as tensions with Iran remain high. According to officials cited by CNN, Washington has temporarily paused further military strikes to allow diplomatic channels to reduce the risk of a broader conflict. While military options remain available, officials said diplomacy is currently taking priority, with the US maintaining a list of potential targets should circumstances change.

Military readiness continues across the region. On board the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea, fighter aircraft were armed and pilots conducted routine training exercises as part of preparations for possible missions. US officials stressed that these activities reflect standard operational readiness during periods of heightened regional tension. They also dismissed reports of additional US strikes, noting that no new attacks had taken place at the time, although the situation remains fluid.

At the same time, the US Treasury announced a fresh round of sanctions targeting individuals and companies allegedly linked to Iran's financial networks. The sanctions, imposed through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), focus on exchange houses and business entities accused of helping Iran evade existing economic restrictions. US authorities said the measures are intended to increase pressure on Tehran while limiting financial activities connected to senior Iranian leadership.

Iran, meanwhile, has urged the United Nations to hold the United States accountable for what it described as violations of international law. Speaking after a UN Security Council meeting, Iran's Ambassador to the UN Amir Saeid Iravani stated that Tehran remains committed to the memorandum of understanding signed with Washington last month, provided the United States fulfills its own obligations. Iranian officials warned that continued violations by Washington would prompt a reciprocal response and could undermine the framework agreement.

Iran also rejected claims that it had requested renewed negotiations with the United States. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei maintained that Tehran's policy remains based on mutual compliance, emphasizing that any breach of commitments by the US would be answered with corresponding action. Officials further criticized recent sanctions and dismissed calls for inspections of nuclear facilities damaged during previous strikes, arguing that such demands lack legal justification.

The growing tensions have prompted renewed diplomatic efforts from regional and international actors. Pakistan called on both countries to remain committed to the framework peace agreement brokered last month, describing it as a practical roadmap for resolving disputes through dialogue. Pakistani officials warned that any interruption in negotiations would make resolving the Iranian nuclear issue more difficult and urged both sides to honor their commitments.

Egypt and Qatar also emphasized the importance of diplomacy in preventing a wider regional conflict. During discussions between their foreign ministers, both countries called for restraint, continued negotiations, and full implementation of the existing memorandum of understanding. They stressed that maintaining freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz remains essential for regional security and global stability.

Adding to the uncertainty, Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei vowed to avenge the death of his predecessor, Ali Khamenei, who was reportedly killed during earlier US-Israeli strikes. The statement has further heightened concerns over possible retaliation, underscoring the fragile security situation despite ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at preventing further escalation.
