Pakistan’s Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, has praised the Pakistani community in Qatar for its longstanding contribution to the country’s development, describing overseas Pakistanis as important ambassadors of their homeland.

The minister made the remarks during a community engagement hosted by the Pakistan Business Council Qatar (PBCQ), bringing together business leaders, professionals and representatives of the Pakistani community.

The minister was accompanied by Federal Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Additional Secretary Waqar Chohan, Community Welfare Attaches at the Pakistan Embassy Qatar Osama Idress and Mohsin Qureshi.

Pakistan Welfare Forum Qatar (PWFQ) President Qaiser Anwar along with heads of various community forums and members of business and professional community also attended the gathering.

PBCQ President Mohammed Israr Malazai welcomed the minister and his delegation, reaffirming the community’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and Qatar.

PBCQ Chairman Fawad Rana briefed the minister on Qatar’s business and trade environment and highlighted the council’s role in promoting stronger commercial, investment and cultural links between the two countries.

Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain said the dedication and hard work of Pakistanis had made them an integral part of Qatar’s development journey, particularly its infrastructure and expanding economy.

He said Pakistan took immense pride in the achievements of its diaspora and acknowledged the important role overseas Pakistanis play in supporting the national economy through remittances.

He also highlighted measures involving certified skills training, pre-departure orientation and transparent recruitment as part of efforts to develop a Pakistan-Qatar Human Resource Corridor.

Earlier, Hussain held meetings with Qatari officials, including Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri and Minister of State for Interior Affairs Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al-Thani. Discussions focused on labour cooperation and human resource development.

Both sides agreed on the need for an institutional cooperation mechanism and a joint working group to coordinate skilled manpower requirements, improve recruitment procedures and align training programmes with Qatar’s changing market needs.

The visit reflected Pakistan’s growing emphasis on protecting the welfare of its overseas citizens while preparing a better-trained workforce capable of contributing meaningfully to Qatar’s future development.
