Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region during a telephone conversation with Iran’s Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni. He said Pakistan would continue to serve as an honest and sincere mediator and facilitator in support of regional harmony.

As part of his official visit to Pakistan, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni visited the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, where he paid tribute to the country’s martyrs and acknowledged the lasting significance of their sacrifices.

Accompanied by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Momeni was welcomed at the monument with full official protocol. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Federal Constabulary presented a guard of honour, reflecting the importance of the visit and the close relationship between Pakistan and Iran.

The Iranian minister laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial and offered Fateha in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He praised the martyrs for their courage, dedication, and invaluable contributions to maintaining Pakistan’s peace and security.

Later in the day, Momeni called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

During his tour of the Pakistan Monument, the visiting minister was briefed on its historical background and national importance. He appreciated the monument and the Martyrs’ Memorial, describing them as enduring symbols of Pakistan’s history, resilience, and unity.

Momeni also visited the Shakarparian viewpoint, where he admired the panoramic views of Islamabad and the Margalla Hills, praising the capital’s natural beauty and scenic landscape.

Inspector General of the Federal Constabulary Riaz Nazir Gara, the Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and other senior officials were also present during the visit.

The visit underscored the cordial ties between Pakistan and Iran and reflected both countries’ shared commitment to enhancing cooperation in areas such as security, regional collaboration, and other matters of mutual interest.

IRNA reported that in his third meeting in Islamabad, the Iranian minister is scheduled to meet with his Pakistani counterpart, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.

The Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni visited the ‘Islamabad Capital Territory Police’ headquarters, alongside Pakistan Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, where he received a warm welcome.

The Iranian interior minister was honored with a ceremonial parade during his visit to the police headquarters.

The Iranian official is also scheduled to visit the headquarters of Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).
