The State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan announced the successful conclusion of the first session of high-level talks held under the framework of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Bürgenstock, Switzerland. The discussions brought together representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, with Qatar and Pakistan serving as mediators.

According to a joint statement issued by the two mediating countries, the Lake Lucerne Summit was conducted in a positive and constructive atmosphere, resulting in encouraging progress toward advancing dialogue between the parties. One of the key outcomes of the summit was the establishment of a mechanism to facilitate further technical-level discussions.

Building on the commitments outlined in the MoU, the participants agreed to form a High-Level Committee that will provide political oversight of the mediation process. Chief negotiators will regularly report to the committee and lead specialized working groups focusing on nuclear issues, sanctions, monitoring mechanisms, and dispute resolution, as well as other areas of mutual concern.

The committee also endorsed a roadmap aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement within the next 60 days. To support this objective, technical negotiations will commence immediately. Additionally, a direct communication channel has been established between the parties to prevent misunderstandings and incidents, while ensuring the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

Another significant development was the agreement to establish a de-confliction cell involving the parties and the Lebanese Republic, facilitated by Qatar and Pakistan. The mechanism is intended to oversee compliance with the cessation of military operations in Lebanon, as stipulated in the MoU.

Technical discussions are expected to continue throughout the week at the Bürgenstock resort, covering all outstanding issues.

Qatar and Pakistan reaffirmed their commitment to facilitating constructive negotiations and expressed appreciation to both the United States and Iran for their continued engagement in diplomacy and efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution. The mediators also acknowledged the support and valuable contributions of friendly and brotherly nations assisting the ongoing negotiation process.
