The 11th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is set to take place in Doha tomorrow, on Monday, from September 28-29, bringing together senior policymakers, financial leaders, business executives and development experts from across the world to discuss the future of infrastructure and sustainable investment.

The two-day meeting will be held under the theme ‘Tomorrow’s Infrastructure: Impact and Innovation,’ reflecting the Bank’s focus on expanding investment in sustainable and resilient infrastructure as it enters its second decade of operations.

The annual gathering serves as one of AIIB’s key governance and stakeholder engagement platforms, providing an opportunity for representatives of member countries, governments, businesses, clients, development partners, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to exchange views on the Bank’s strategic direction, operational priorities and future agenda.

AIIB and the Government of Qatar are preparing to welcome participants to Doha for the high-level event, which is expected to feature discussions on infrastructure financing, innovation, sustainability and emerging opportunities for international cooperation.

Among the prominent speakers and moderators scheduled to participate are AIIB President Zou Jiayi; Mikayil Jabbarov, AIIB Governor and Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan; Ahmed Kouchouk, AIIB Governor and Minister of Finance of Egypt; and Khamis Omar, AIIB Governor and Minister of Finance of Tanzania.

The programme will also feature Muhammad Al Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group; Serhat Köksal, President of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank; Ngọc Cảnh Nguyễn, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; and Yukon Huang, Senior Fellow of the Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a member of the AIIB International Advisory Panel.

Other participants include Nargiz Nasrullayeva, former President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Azerbaijan; Ludger Schuknecht, AIIB Vice President for Policy and Strategy; Ajay Pandey, Vice President for Investment Solutions; and senior AIIB officials Kim-See Lim, Konstantin Limitovskiy, Cosimo Thawley and Yanning Wang.

The meeting will further bring together representatives from international financial institutions, governments and the private sector, including Danny Alexander of HSBC, Mike Cheng of the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation, Yalçın Eyigün of Türkiye’s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Samar Khan of Ethnomedia, Ana Nakashidze of AzerTelecom and CapsiLink, and Pramod Varma of Networks for Humanity.

The event follows the 10th AIIB Annual Meeting, held in Beijing from June 24-26, 2025, under the theme ‘Connecting for Development, Collaborating for Prosperity.’ Among the speakers were HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Finance, State of Qatar; Jin Liqun, President and Chair of the Board of
Directors, AIIB; HE Lan Fo’an, Minister of Finance, People’s Republic of China; and HE Indranee Rajah, Minister of Prime Minister’s Office of Singapore. That gathering also brought together members, partners, business leaders, civil society representatives and global experts to discuss financing infrastructure for the future.

The 2025 meeting also marked the beginning of celebrations of AIIB’s first decade, highlighting its efforts to support sustainable economic development, infrastructure connectivity and prosperity across its members in Asia and beyond.

The Doha meeting is expected to build on that decade of experience while placing greater emphasis on innovation, sustainability and the infrastructure needs of the coming years.
